lees ik net dat prof. bueller van het erasmus mc naast ieder bed een pc wil zodat kinderen het internet opkunnen, lees ik op heise online dat kinderen internet verslaafd worden hetgeen zich uit in vermoeidheid, slaapmoeilijkheden en liegen over de tijd die men achter computer doorbrengt. zou ik dan toch een kind zijn en gewoon verslaafd zijn? ik slaap niet altijd even goed en ehm.. hoe lang ik achter de computer zit? nou... eens kijken 5 minuten per dag? niet?

Internetverslaving bij de jeugd

Veelvuldig gebruik van internet kan leiden tot internetverslaving bij kinderen, aldus professor Karla Misek-Schneider van de Fachhochschule Keulen. Symptomen van internetverslaving zijn: vermoeidheid, veranderende slaapgewoontes en liegen als het om de tijd gaat die achter de computer wordt doorgebracht. Dat meldt de website van Heise online, uitgever van computerbladen.

Volgens de Duitse professor leidt een internetverslaving tot mindere prestaties en neemt het aantal vrienden en hobby’s af. Zo’n 83 procent van de jongeren heeft interesse voor internet. Jongens en meisjes besteden evenveel tijd aan internet. E-mailen, chatten en zoeken naar informatie zijn populaire bezigheden van de jeugd. Maar ook het downloaden van muziek, video's en sofware zijn in trek.

Door internet kunnen kinderen zich beter emotioneel uiten. Internet kan ook leiden tot meer sociale contacten. Negatieve dingen van internetgebruik zijn dat als internet gebruikt wordt om tekorten in de echte wereld te compenseren, het gevaar bestaat dat de jeugdige gebruikers andere mensen beledigen, gewelddadiger worden, en een verstoord beeld krijgen over wat seks is. Internetverslaving kan ook leiden tot gedragsverandering, schrijft Heise online. (ES)
